I try to move with fluidity, like the waltz – not too fast and not too slow. How about you? Are you taking control of your health by dancing along in life doing the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Zumba or the Waltz?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From the National Cancer Institute

Key Points to remember are:

  • A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. Screening mammograms are used to check for breast cancer in women who have no signs or symptoms of the disease. Diagnostic mammograms are used to check for breast cancer after a lump or other sign or symptom of the disease has been found.
  • Screening mammography can help reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer among women ages 40 to 70.
  • Potential harms of screening mammography include false-negative results, false-positive results, overdiagnosis, overtreatment, and radiation exposure.
  • NCI recommends that women age 40 or older have screening mammograms every 1 to 2 years.

Do whatever you can to lead a healthy lifestyle; eat a healthy diet, remain physically active ~ like dancing, for instance ~ quit smoking and get regular checkups. Preventive measures go a long way toward reducing health risks. We’re 3/4 of the way through the year – there’s still time to schedule your screening(s)!

Get in the Pink! Pink is the honorable color for Breast Cancer Awareness. Wear as much pink as you can during October. A hot color for FALL 2012 is Pink Flambe.

Callais Color Cosmetics offers a wide variety of ‘pink’ lip shades just right for you.

Men can be supportive during the month of October, by wearing a pink shirt and/or a pink tie.
